When Allisa & Tyson first came in, they were undecided about whether or not to travel the 20 mins each way out to Tyson’s family farm (knowing this would make the shoot time tight), or just have their bridal party wedding photos in Forbes. I encouraged them to think about what they would most value, when they look back 20 years from now.

Here is some of the story of their day, as told by Allisa…

Marisa & Jason's Orange Farm Wedding
Marisa Magiros & Jason Groake were married & had their reception (complete with straw picnic blankets & hot gormet catered hampers) at “Rosemerrin” a small property near Millthorpe.

Here is the day, as told by Marisa. (Warning, lots of pics!)

Tania & Garry were married 20 minutes west of Parkes in the restored church that Tania’s family had originally helped build. Afterwards there was time for a bridal party shoot in the country, before heading back into Parkes Golf Club for their reception.

Here are a few of Tania’s thoughts, and of course a few photos!

Helen BarnettAlmost two years ago, as part of the preparation for Orange based Opera singer Helen Barnett’s debut album, I drove out to the property south west of Dubbo that Helen grew up on, for a photo shoot.

At the time, the album title was still undecided, but Helen knew it would have something to do with travelling home and visiting one’s roots.

My assignment was not to “over light” the images with tons of obvious studio lighting, but to capture something of the unusual juxtaposition of a dressed-for-the-stage opera singer, in a cow paddock, in front of her favourite tree, in the ruins of her grandparent’s house, etc.

“Homeward Road” is now available from many good music stores.

Wedding at Turners in Orange
Anna Murphy & Phillip Humpherys had an all-in-one ceremony & reception at Turners Vineyard Orange. An outdoor ceremony can be a photographer’s nightmare, especially on a sunny day without shade anywhere useful. (The sun is, well, harsh.) Technical difficulties aside, the affection between these two was more than evident, and a total joy to document.

After the ceremony we nipped off to a nearby farm for a bit of country style shooting fun, before heading back for their reception.

Sorry folks, I’m way behind in posting our recent weddings. Autumn in the Central West is just extraordinarily busy. Sam Fernley and Reece Drewe were after some country images from their Bathurst wedding. So we found a location, and after a couple of other stops, had a little time to shoot eight boys and their hats!

Erin & Myles Bathurst Wedding
It’s been a little while since I’ve had my Bathurst wedding photographer hat on, so it was nice to capture some of the special moments from Erin Tonkin & Myles Elton’s Bathurst wedding.

Their ceremony took place under a marquee on the Tonkin family property at Mt Rankin, followed by an afternoon tea, some photos around the property, and a reception at Bathurst Convention & Function centre. Sandra always over-caters with her staff, ensuring fantastic service, fast meal delivery, quick bar service, etc, so I knew they’d be in good hands for the evening.

Despite living in Cowra, Melissa & Mark had a all-in-one ceremony & reception at Langdon’s on Peabody, near Molong. They’d heard stories about Langdon’s legendary service, and seeing Melissa wanted a wedding with no risk of anything going wrong, it was a nice fit. As it turned out, they’d heard good stories about us too.

After receiving their wedding photos , Kim and Michael Cunial informed me that I’d now become their family photographer. Sounds good to me! It’s very rewarding being a part of people’s lives over time.

Two years on, having now discharged his primary responsibilities as an Italian boy- that of getting married (to a beautiful girl at that), and producing a grandchild, it was time for Michael to send all those previously nagging rels some photos, and put a little family history up on the wall.

The couple who know the big guy upstairs!

I’m not called on to shoot very many August weddings, so having two back to back, was a real treat. This one was a shorter coverage, but the kicker for me was the weather. It had snowed a little the day before (Alison & Hamish’s wedding) and again that morning. Worse, the storm clouds were brewing…
