Candid, fun, story telling wedding photography

Haylie & Jamie's wedding imagesHaylie Connaughton & Jamie Howarth were married on Nov 21st at Banjo Patterson Park near Orange, and had a very relaxed reception in a marquee on Jamie’s parent’s property at Clifton Grove.

Recently we’ve had a string of enquiries about whether we capture candid photographs of wedding guests, or just a mixture of candid and fashion style photos of the bridal party. (Looking back through this blog I can see why- we mainly post images of each bride & groom, leaving an unrealistic impression of our photography.)

To prove a point – the following are ONLY photos of Haylie & Jamie’s guests. To see images of this great couple, and rest of the day, contact Haylie!

Kathryn & Matthew's Blue Moutains Wedding
Kathryn & Matthew were married in the Blue Mountains and had a wedding that showcased some of what Katoomba etc has to offer. They’ve just arrived back from their honeymoon, and I’m looking forward to them seeing these pics!

Nicole & Andrew's wedding near MudgeeAndrew McDonald and Nicole Doherty were married in Gulgong, with their reception in Mudgee, and Nicole would have to be the most rain-proof bride I’ve ever photographed! She was absolutely determined to have an amazing wedding, and amazing photos to go with it, regardless of the weather.

Both times that we got out of the cars during the bridal party shoot, the light rain quickly turned into a solid downpour. But throwing off the umbrellas and her cares, Nicole insisted we keep shooting anyway.

As a bonus, on their way back from their honeymoon, Nicole and Andrew were able to stop by and approve the design of their premium album, meaning they’ll have it for Christmas.

Gemmah & Sia SoliolaGemmah Shuttleworth & Sia Soliola were married at the Orange Uniting Parish Centre on Oct 17th.

They are now off honeymooning in the UK and France, where Sia is apparently slipping out between romantic dinners and backrubs, to play for New Zealand in the Four Nations Rugby League series… (Some guys will do ANYTHING to get out of shopping!)

Following are some of Gemmah’s thoughts, on their cross-cultural and beautiful wedding-

Noah Diana & Andrew
There was dancing in the streets when this wedding was announced! Andrew Moor & Diana Sievwright were married at St Mark’s Uniting on June 6th, and got back from their honeymoon yesterday. Graham’s children were sad at their return, as they’d been minding Diana’s & Noah’s dog “Cadbury” and didn’t want to give him back. (Dog minding service not normally available.)

Edited to add: Six months after her wedding Diana joined the team here at Renaissance Photography, as our photo editing and customer service manager. We’re delighted to now have Diana as a core part of everything we do.

Brooke and Craig
Brooke & Craig were married in Cowra, just three and a half weeks after the council finished the City’s new function centre. Amazingly, their’s was the third wedding reception there since the scaffolding was removed- I’m not even sure it had been officially opened yet!

Sorry we’re behind in posting some wedding pics here. I’ve posted lots, so some of Brooke’s distant friends can get an idea of how much fun they missed out on.

Wedding at Turners in Orange
Anna Murphy & Phillip Humpherys had an all-in-one ceremony & reception at Turners Vineyard Orange. An outdoor ceremony can be a photographer’s nightmare, especially on a sunny day without shade anywhere useful. (The sun is, well, harsh.) Technical difficulties aside, the affection between these two was more than evident, and a total joy to document.

After the ceremony we nipped off to a nearby farm for a bit of country style shooting fun, before heading back for their reception.

travel and destination wedding photography
The single most common question I get asked in e-mails is, “my wedding will be at X, do you travel?” What’s really amusing to me is that “x” can be as close as Millthorpe or Molong (both a 20 minute drive from Orange). So, how far does Renaissance Photography travel for a wedding?

The day before Sarah Binks & Jason Bembrick’s outdoor ceremony (at Eugowra’s Eat Your Greens function centre), with predictions of an afternoon thunderstorm looming, Sarah outlined her wet weather plan to me. “My dress doesn’t do rain, it won’t be getting wet. No shooting with umbrellas, no walking through wet grass, we’ll be staying where it’s dry thanks.”

As it turned out, God had other ideas…

Sorry folks, I’m way behind in posting our recent weddings. Autumn in the Central West is just extraordinarily busy. Sam Fernley and Reece Drewe were after some country images from their Bathurst wedding. So we found a location, and after a couple of other stops, had a little time to shoot eight boys and their hats!

Nicole & Andrew's Orange Wedding
Nicole Stojanovic & Andrew Caro’s wedding was a day of epic moments. True, all weddings are- for those with the eyes to see them, but a couple of this day’s were a little more obvious than usual.

For instance- Andrew took to heart the idea of giving his new wife a wedding present, and despite everyone else in the bridal party being in on his plans, the secret was kept till the very last moment!

Erin & Myles Bathurst Wedding
It’s been a little while since I’ve had my Bathurst wedding photographer hat on, so it was nice to capture some of the special moments from Erin Tonkin & Myles Elton’s Bathurst wedding.

Their ceremony took place under a marquee on the Tonkin family property at Mt Rankin, followed by an afternoon tea, some photos around the property, and a reception at Bathurst Convention & Function centre. Sandra always over-caters with her staff, ensuring fantastic service, fast meal delivery, quick bar service, etc, so I knew they’d be in good hands for the evening.
