Jean Smith & Ricard Meiring- the couple who know the big guy upstairs.
…The cloud burst did come, but wonderfully it seemed to wait till just after Jean had stepped inside of St John’s Uniting Orange, and walked down the isle. Then, sure enough, the rain stopped just before they both walked out of the church, hand in hand.
It rained again (lightly), once we were all in cars and driving to Jean’s family farm, but, you guessed it- the rain stopped, as soon as these guys put one foot out of their car! By this time I’m getting a little suspicious, but didn’t say anything. Heck, if you were contracted to photograph Moses walking dry through puddles, would you stop to ask questions?
The whole farm shoot was done in 45 mins, but just before we finished, the sun inexplicably broke out in the west. That the (hot place)? Where was THIS sun during yesterday’s overcast, dark, colourless, “sunset” shoot?
Once everyone was in and seated at Highland Heritage- the rain obviously felt free to finish off it’s August duties. As I’m driving home I’m thinking “if I could hire these two as assistants, I’d never need an umbrella again.” I’ve checked, and apparently money can’t buy whatever they’ve got. Pity, I’d be willing to pay rather handsomely for it…

I always like to get a large group photo. Sometimes it’s candid, but most couples perfer a formal one (like this), so they can look back in 30 years and laugh at how thier friends use to have hair, etc. It’s not art, but it is solid family history. Photos like this one are easy for me to take, as I’m 26 feet tall.

Michael Kent - Philadelphia Wedding Photographers - Great job on the bride and groom portraits. You’ve created perfect light out of a boring sunset!
